Why choose CrossFit Rome over a traditional gym or a different CrossFit affiliate?

The following features are what set us apart from any other fitness facility, both CrossFit affiliates and otherwise.
Personal Coaching
What?
We are not a group exercise class or a boot camp facility. We’re trying to get you fit for life. In order to do this, you will work with your personal coach and complete 10 to 20 one-on-one or two-on-one personal training sessions that will properly prepare you for the demands of group classes. During this time, and even upon graduation, you and your coach will constantly monitor your fitness and graduation to classes will be based on our physical Benchmarks.

Why?
Learning movements that are required for improved fitness – movements like squats, snatches and pull-ups – take time, as does improving your mobility, your endurance, your speed and your power.

Improving your fitness is a slow process. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses when they show up at our doors. Some students struggle with mobility, others with stability, others yet come to us two months after having knee surgery and need to be tended with care. And on the other end of the spectrum, some athletes arrive at our door well conditioned with an extensive athletic background.

The point is we all have different needs when we start a new strength and conditioning program. It doesn’t make sense to throw you right into classes before you have properly learned the movements. So at our gym, by the time you graduate to classes, you’ll have a good understanding of 30-40 movements, and you will know exactly how to scale each movement if you’re not yet able to master everything. And more importantly, you will have a relationship with a professional coach, who will be with you for life.

Fundamentals
We promise to prepare you for group classes through one-on-one personal coaching. You will learn technique, safety and scaling until you and your coach feel you are ready for the next step. Only once you have demonstrated consistency, will you be introduced to intensity.
Coach For Life
Why?
We believe that having a coach for life helps you stay on track with your short and long term training and goals. By creating a personal relationship with your highly trained coach, your progress is tracked and you become accountable. You always have someone on your side.

As you join our community, you will recognize a special bond between our coaches and each of their athletes. You will also often see our coaches post stories of success and inspiration on our blog and our Facebook page. We believe in celebrating every member’s successes and achievements both inside and outside the gym.
Group Classes
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many division 1 sports programs, military units, police academies and Olympic athletes. The methodology is built around constantly varied functional movements done at high intensity, and combines cardiovascular activities, weightlifting, and gymnastics in as many ways as possible. While CrossFit serves many elite training programs, it is designed for universal scalability and is ideal for everyone from grandmothers to professional athletes.

We define fitness as increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. Capacity is the ability to do real work which is measurable using the basic terms of physics (force, distance, and time). Life is unpredictable (much more so than sport), so real world fitness must be broad and not specialized, both in terms of duration and type of effort (time and modal domains).

The magic is in the movements. All of CrossFit’s workouts are based on functional movements. These are the core movements of life found everywhere and built naturally into our DNA. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time (intensity).

By employing a constantly varied approach to training, these functional movements at maximum intensity (relative to the physical and psychological tolerances of the participant), lead to dramatic gains in fitness. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work/time. The more work you do in less time, the more intense the effort.

We believe that CrossFit Rome is a lifestyle. It’s a community of people who want to feel great, do great things, and have fun while doing it. From BBQ’s to competitions to classes, our community is made up of people who work hard and laugh harder. We believe it’s important that fitness doesn’t dominate your life but is a part of your life. We have also learned that by being engaged in a community of friends who are striving for similar things, members are more likely to WANT to show up rather than to feel like they HAVE to show up.
